Philosopher's Stone or sorcerr's stone is a story is about  when and how Harry for the first time finds out that he's a wizard.                        

In the same year when he visits Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry he also encounters Lord Voldemort the dark lord who determinedly was intent upon killing Harry 

The book is about Harry's 1st experience at Hogwarts and his encounter with Lord Voldemort.
